Recipe: Sauerkraut with Kielbasa

I love a fast, easy & healthy recipe as much as the next person. But, I don’t like to compromise on flavor, I want it to be delicious and not taste like it was just thrown together.

This recipe from Mark Bittman’s cookbook “Kitchen Express” fits the bill. It’s full of flavor and ultra easy. Ingredients:

butter

kielbasa

onion

1-2 apples or pears

jar or bag of sauerkraut (I like the one in the photo, found it at whole foods near the pickles)

Directions:

In some butter, sear 3 in pieces of kielbasa, a sliced onion and 1-2 apples (or pears), cook for about 4 minutes. Add sauerkraut, cover and heat until warmed through, about 6 minutes more.
